About Princess Run Festival and Little Dude Dash:

The Princess Run Festival and Little Dude Dash is a runhers imagination project. Inside every one of us there is a playful child wanting to break out! Wanting to get out and discover, to laugh out loud, to dance and sing with all our hearts, to stomp in water puddles, to share our imagination with the clouds and just delight care free in the moment! We want to be ‘happiness merchants’ to children of all ages with the festival! Yes, that’s it! Happiness merchants, that’s what we are!

Princess Run was originally designed in 2010 to allow girls 12 and under a day where they were celebrated and the entire focus of the event. The event promptly sold out at 375 princesses, and there were quite a few little brothers (dudes) feeling left out!  Our bad!  Our team added the Little Dude Dash in 2011 and the event sold out with 500 princesses and 100 happy little dudes!  We’ve always had cool treats and refreshments, along with the wicked cool shirts, string backpacks for the girls and medals! Again, it had become apparent that our original venue at Stars and Stripes Park in OKC was not going to be able to handle any more growth ….

So we found a new home in 2012 and a partner that shares our vision and love for kids, and believe wholly, that with passion, imagination and creativity we could put in place a kids festival that will be an annual ‘must do’ and become a creative benchmark for other kids events in the region.  The Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation and the leadership team have built an unbelievable, world class property that is the renowned OKC Boathouse District.  With all the new additions for kids (and adults) you will be amazed at what this team built “down by the Oklahoma River.”  The Oklahoma City Boathouse District is the perfect place to get on the water with OKC RIVERSPORT and learn how to row or kayak, stand up paddle board or grab a group of friends and race in a dragon boat. For those that want to have some fun off the water, RIVERSPORT Adventures has something for everyone! From the 80-foot SandRidge Sky Trail, Sky Slide and Rumble Drop to the Cloud Bounce and Subaru Momentum Pump Track, there’s an adventure out there for all ages. Home to the OKC National High Performance Center, a U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site, and the official headquarters of USA Canoe/Kayak, the Oklahoma City Boathouse District is also where you’ll find some of the best rowers and kayakers in the world preparing for international competition. So for 2014, we will go back to separate starts for the Princess Run and The Little Dude Dash (1.2 miles). All participants get a cool event shirt, a string backpack and a finisher medal! We’ve got some cool surprises again this year. Our friends at Studio J Dance will bring their high energy dancers to help celebrate and host a dance clinic inside the Devon Boathouse. The NEW Professional Soccer Team, the OKC Energy will be out to provide a wicked cool soccer experience. We are certainly going to keep listening to our Princesses and Little Dudes – as our festival experience gets better and better with their creative input! We encourage parents to come as characters, superheroes, etc. Play along, the kids will love it!

We are jazzed about having you out and celebrating kids with us down by the river on May 4th!  Bring your happiness, your kids and prepare to have a memorable experience down by the river!
